Nairy Baghramian's book, Side Leaps, coincides with the artist’s first solo exhibition at Galerie and Librairie Marian Goodman Paris, in June 2021. This new volume features numerous illustrations released exclusively from the artist’s archives, as well as a panoramic essay on Baghramian’s sculptural practice by art historian and curator Miwon Kwon, and a new conversation between the artist, Marian Goodman and Philipp Kaiser, Chief Executive Director of Artists & Programs at the gallery.
Over the course of her career, Nairy Baghramian has produced in conjunction with her sculptures and installations a number of significant and peripheral sketches, drawings, and maquettes, known as the Side Leaps. While they conceptually underpin her large-scale sculptural works, the Side Leaps were never intended to be realized as sculptures.
